UFC on ESPN: Cannonier vs. Borralho Main Card Betting Odds & Picks

After an exciting trip to Australia last week, the UFC returns home to the Apex for UFC on ESPN 62. While many will be tuning in to see the title fights for The Ultimate Fighter 32, we’re going to focus on the four real UFC battles scheduled for the main card on Saturday. In the main event, middleweight veteran and top 10 contender Jared Canonnier comes in as a massive UFC betting odds underdog on most sports betting sites against up-and-comer Caio Borralho.

Highlights

  • Caio Borralho will not be able to finish Jared Cannonier
  • Michael Morales will beat Neil Magny by decision
  • Two fighters that are 10 years younger than their opponents will get the win

UFC on ESPN: Cannonier vs. Borralho UFC Betting Odds & Picks

All odds provided by Betway.

No. 5 Jared Cannonier vs. No. 12 Caio Borralho Middleweight Bout Betting Odds

FighterMoneylineWin by KO/TKO/DQWin by SubmissionWin by DecisionRoundsTo Go the Distance
Jared Cannonier+225+450+3,300+600O4.5 (-120)Yes (-105)
Caio Borralho-275+400+275+170U4.5 (-120)No (-135)

In the main event, nine-year UFC veteran Jared Cannonier (17-7) will look to end No. 12 Caio Borralho’s dominance since joining the promotion in 2022. Borralho has gone 6-0 with three stoppages in the UFC, and his last fight, a knockout of the formerly ranked Paul Craig, was impressive.

He won’t be able to get a finish like that against the Killa Gorilla, but he should be able to point him up and take him down often enough to win on the cards. Cannonier has the power advantage, but Borralho is so much quicker, and he has a large advantage in the grappling and wrestling exchanges as well.

Cannonier has only been finished once, a questionable stoppage in his last fight, so the smart money is on Borralho to win after 25 minutes.

Best Bet: Caio Borralho to Win via Decision (+170)

No. 9 Angela Hill vs. No. 11 Tabatha Ricci Women’s Strawweight Bout Betting Odds

FighterMoneylineWin by KO/TKO/DQWin by SubmissionWin by DecisionRoundsTo Go the Distance
Angela Hill+110+1,200+1,800+150O2.5 (-500)Yes (-425)
Tabatha Ricci-138+1,200+650+120U2.5 (+330)No (+290)

While Angela Hill (17-13) may be the more crispy striker, the fact that she’s a full decade older than her opponent, Brazilian Tabatha Ricci (10-2), is worrisome, as about 65 percent of fighters just five years younger than their opponents win the bout.

This one will be tight, but with Ricci generally displaying more noticeable power that will score points with the crowd (Apex’s small audience, but still) and the judges while also enjoying an advantage on the ground, we like Baby Shark to get the win here.

Best Bet: Tabatha Ricci to Win via Decision (+120)

No. 12 Neil Magny vs. Michael Morales Welterweight Bout Betting Odds

FighterMoneylineWin by KO/TKO/DQWin by SubmissionWin by DecisionRoundsTo Go the Distance
Neil Magny+600+2,800+2,800+1,000O2.5 (-180)Yes (-150)
Michael Morales-1,000+200+500-115U2.5 (+135)No (+110)

Oddsmakers just love to disrespect UFC legend Neil Magny (29-11), one of the scrappiest veterans in the UFC. In his last fight, against a similarly exciting prospect, Mike Malott, he was down early before starching the young Canuck. Before that, he somehow survived an insane three-round onslaught from Ian Garry, which resulted in a decision loss for Magny but proved his toughness and chin.

Michael Morales (16-0) might be better than either of those guys, as he has not skipped a beat since joining the UFC. He’s 4-0 in the division, and he’s already proven himself against solid opponents in Jake Matthews and Max Griffin.

Morales’ odds make this a tough fight to bet, as they should not be nearly as short as the -1,000 odds he’s getting considering the step up Magny is for the youngster. Magny has been finished eight times, but six of those were via submission, which is something Morales doesn’t generally dabble with. Magny hasn’t been starched in six years and 12 fights, so if you don’t want to take a chance on Magny at +600, Morales by decision is the way to go.

Best Bet: Michael Morales to Win via Decision (-115)

Edmen Shahbazyan vs. Gerald Meerschaert Middleweight Bout Betting Odds

FighterMoneylineWin by KO/TKO/DQWin by SubmissionWin by DecisionRoundsTo Go the Distance
Edmen Shahbazyan-334-150+800+650O1.5 (-115)Yes (+300)
Gerald Meerschaert+250+1,400+600+650U1.5 (-125)No (-450)

To open up the main card, we get another prospect vs. gatekeeper matchup with the 13-4 Edmen Shahbazyan taking on Geral Meerschaert (36-17), the latter of whom has been with the UFC since 2016.

Meerschaert is still a tough out, but his chin has shown signs of weakness in recent fights, even against grapplers, and Shahbazyan is not the kind of guy you want to fight when you’re dealing with durability issues.

The Golden Boy has earned all five of his UFC wins via finish, four of which came by knockout. Meerschaert is on the way out, and this is a perfect matchup for Shahbazyan, who is 10 years younger than his opponent.

Best Bet: Edmen Shahbazyan to Win via KO/TKO/DQ (-150)
