Tottenham vs. Manchester United Premier League Soccer Betting Odds

Tottenham Hotspur will welcome Manchester United to the shiny new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for their midweek Premier League fixture on Thursday, April 27th. Both sides have had their ups and downs recently and both sides are still fighting alongside Newcastle United for those last two Champions League spots, with Spurs currently six points behind Newcastle and United. Despite a very rough recent patch for Tottenham, they’re only very slight moneyline underdogs for this one according to most sports betting sites and betting apps.

Highlights

  • Tottenham have won just one of their last five league matches
  • Manchester United have won three straight league matches
  • United won the reverse fixture at Old Trafford 2-0 in October

Tottenham Hotspur vs. Manchester United EPL Odds

Neither of these squads is in relatively great form right now, but it can’t get much worse than it currently is for Spurs, which would seem to give United something of an edge here even as the away side. The match will be crucial in deciding who will finish in the top four and snag one of the two remaining Champions League slots. All odds provided by Betway.

Tottenham Hotspur Odds

Tottenham has been having a rough campaign. The players and ownership were getting regularly criticized in the media by manager Antonio Conte, who was mercifully relieved of his duties a few weeks ago after a particularly pointed postgame press conference.

Conte was replaced by his assistant Christian Sellini, who held the job of caretaker manager for all of four matches—of which he won one, drew one, and lost two - before he too was sacked. Sellini’s ousting occurred after a particularly embarrassing 6-1 defeat at the hands of Newcastle United, who are looking to replace Spurs in the top four pecking order this season.

Sellini will be replaced by his own assistant, Ryan Mason, moving forward. Basically, Spurs sacked their manager, turned to his assistant, then sacked the assistant and turned to the assistant’s assistant. Not exactly an impressive series of events for a Daniel Levy team that has serious designs on competing for titles and trophies in the future.

Despite all of the turmoil surrounding this season, Tottenham are still very much in the race for the top four, currently sitting just six points behind United, though the Manchester side does have two games in hand.

Tottenham haven’t gotten much from anyone apart from Harry Kane this season as Son Heung-min has been in abysmal form all year and big new 50 million pound signing Richarlison has scored just two goals in 28 appearances, including a big fat goose egg in 20 matches in the Premier League.

With Manchester United’s many injury issues at the moment, especially in their back line, Spurs have a great opportunity to nick a couple of points at home, pay out on solid underdog odds, and get back to within striking distance of Erik Ten Haag’s squad, but the only discernible way we can see that happening is yet another Kane masterclass, which is not far fetched at all.

Manchester United Odds

While Manchester United haven’t been in top form lately, basically any sort of form would be better than what Tottenham has been going through over the past month or so. United did go out of the Europa League in disappointing fashion against Spanish side Sevilla last week, but they’ve also won three league matches on the trot and are coming off an exhilarating FA Cup semi final win against Brighton via a 7-6 penalty shootout victory.

That’s a lot of different emotions swirling around for United, and the health of the squad hasn’t helped with calming the waters either. Ten Haag is now unlikely to have the services of vice captain Bruno Fernandes, who was seen on social media with a boot on his foot.

Fernandes has had some brutal character moments this season, but he’s still one of their most talented offensive players, and his end product and link play will be missed in United’s attacking third on Thursday evening. Unfortunately, he’s not the only one that is likely to be missing.

We already know Lisandro Martinez is done for the year after undergoing surgery on his foot, but his center back partner Raphael Varane is also likely to miss more action due to injury as well, leaving United quite thin at the heart of their defense. If they go with fullback Luke Shaw and shamed and mistake-prone captain Harry Maguire at the back—which is a center back partnership that is very much in the realm of possibility and should scare United supporters—it could be a real feast for the likes of Harry Kane.
