What Is Live Streaming?
Sports betting isn’t just about putting money on a game that will be played tomorrow or next week. Many online bookmakers have realized that and now not only offer live, in-game bets, but you can live stream the matches directly from the betting sites. Now, you're not just a spectator; you're making real decisions based on what you see on the pitch during the Copa America.
What You Need to Know Before Choosing a Live Betting Sportsbook
Not all Canadian sportsbooks are the same, especially when it comes to live streaming and live betting. So, before you start betting on Copa America, here are some things to keep in mind:
- Live stream requirements: Some online bookmakers we tested only give you access to the live stream if you’ve made a bet in the last 24 hours while others just require a funded account. It’s important to understand these requirements so you don’t end up in a situation where you miss out on the match.
- Betting markets and odds: Any live betting site worth joining needs to have a wide range of betting options during Copa America. Look for competitive and dynamic odds that reflect what’s going on in the game.
- Quality of the feed: The last thing you want is for the stream to buffer at a crucial moment. A high-quality feed is a must-have for live betting, especially when split-second decisions can make a big difference.
- User interface and experience: The platform should be user-friendly, so you can place live bets quickly and efficiently, ideally without having to leave the live stream.
- Mobile compatibility: It’s 2024, all online bookmakers are mobile-friendly but not all of them have well designed sites or apps when it comes to live streaming and live betting.
How to Access Copa America Live Streams for Betting
Every Canadian sportsbook is a little different, so these instructions will be a little generic. However, the information is all valid, and will put you on the right track for Copa America live betting.
The first thing you have to do is register for the site. I haven’t found any sportsbooks that let unregistered users view the live stream. While most betting sites require a minimum deposit, I have found some that allow any registered users to live stream a game.
Once your account is set up, open the Soccer section of the sportsbook. All of the Copa America live betting markets will show up, and next to the game will be an icon for Live Stream. Click on it and the game will stream directly from the betting page.
Live Betting Apps
I would be surprised if there were still online bookmakers that don’t have a mobile app or at least a mobile friendly website, I certainly haven’t come across any. You have to give the sportsbook access to location tracking, so they can confirm you’re actually in Canada when placing the bets.
If you’re betting on your phone or tablet, here are some key factors to consider when choosing a Copa America live sportsbook.
- Ease of navigation: There are hundreds of betting markets, and within each game are different bets, each one with a ton of information. You need an app that is easy to jump from one market to the next or place a bet during the live stream without losing the stream. In-play bets must be made quickly because the odds are changing, and goals can happen at any minute.
- Variety of markets: The best live betting apps offer a variety of betting options during live Copa America matches. From predicting the next goal scorer to guessing the final score, more options mean more possibilities.
- Quality of live stream: Part of the responsibility of the streaming quality is on you, you need a fast and reliable internet connection. However, if the sportsbook isn’t offering an HD stream, it won’t matter how fast your connection speed is.
- Quick bet placement: You need to be able to place a bet with a tap or two. If you have to navigate all around the app just to find the market and your bet slip, it might be too late.
- Good odds: Competitive odds are important, especially in live betting where they can change as fast a red card can be pulled. An app that offers boosted or enhanced odds increases your chances of a higher payout.
- Notifications and alerts: Choose an app with real-time notifications and alerts on Copa America matches. Staying updated of when the match starts, goals scored, injuries, penalties, and more helps you out if you want to make live bets.
How Is A Bet Live Stream Different from Watching a Regular Sports Stream?
If you’re streaming Copa America on TSN, you’ll get to enjoy the games, hear the play-by-play, and listen to the experts break down the play on the pitch. But that’s all, you’re just a spectator.
When you go to a Copa America betting site and open the live stream, you get all the same commentary, but now it’s actionable. If Messi is playing well, you can place a bet that he’ll be the next goal scorer or if you feel that Brazil looks unbeatable, you can put your money where you mouth is.
In addition to the integrated betting, many Canadian sportsbooks will give you updated stats and analytics that you won’t see on the regular stream. This can prove to be valuable information and insights when it comes to betting on soccer matches.
Top Copa America Live Betting Sites
Below, you'll find the top Copa America 2024 sportsbooks that allow live betting and live streaming
Sports Interaction
There are two ways to find live betting on the Sports Interaction sportsbook. There’s a menu bar on the top of the website, or open the menu on your mobile app, and before it lists all the different sports is a tab for Live games. The other option is to scroll through the betting either by sport or just popular games, and a Live icon will be attached to games with live markets.
If a live stream is available, you can click Play on the video stream on the page’s sidebar. The betting odds are dynamic, and once a bet is no longer relevant, for example, after a goal is scored you can’t bet on a shutout, it’s removed to avoid any confusion.
BetPlays
Tap the In-Play option on the top right corner of the menu to view all the games currently underway. Not all live bet action has live streams, but major events and matches, like Copa America, will have live streams.
In addition to dynamic odds, BetPlays has features such as early cash-out, bet builder, and create in—game parlays. However, I didn’t see much in terms of stats or analytics to help guide my bets.
Betway
It’s easy to bet on live action with Betway. It covers all the major markets, including Copa America matches, with a live stream option if you maintain an active account. I found it easy to navigate, and really liked the enhanced odds for some of the games and markets.
The odds are always being updated, to reflect the real-time action in the game, and there’s a stream with game updates, making it easy to follow.
888sport
Tap on the Live Now option on the sidebar to view all games in progress. 888Sport has dynamic odds for nearly every major and minor sporting event, with cash out options and bet builders.
I was disappointed that there isn’t a live stream option. Instead, they have a gamecast style update that lists every play in real time. While it’s helpful to have, it’s not the same as seeing how tired or injured a player is during the Copa America that can make all the difference when placing a bet.
BetAndYou
I really liked BetAndYou approach to live betting. Like the other sportsbooks, you can open a page of just live action or find live action when you scroll through the available markets.
However, what sets it apart from the rest is the Multi-Live page, where you can set up a unique page by adding the live games you care about and making multiple bets at the same time. Other live betting options that I haven’t seen elsewhere are Marble-Live betting and Fast Bets, which adds a new level of action to the live betting option.
Live Betting Strategies
I’ve found that these live betting strategies have helped me out in the NBA Finals, NFL Season, and Champions Leagues, so it’s a good bet they’ll be good for the 2024 Copa America as well.
- Monitor the odds: The odds of any game can shift a little in the days leading up to a match, but with live betting, they’re constantly changing based on what is happening in real time. Stay on top of the odds and find the best time to place your bet. If you wait to long, your long shot bet might change to a sure thing costing you a big potential payout.
- Follow the game: Live betting works best when it’s a sport you understand. Watch the Copa America live stream to see if players are looking tired, recognize game strategy, or momentum shifts that can create a good betting opportunity.
- Timing is key: The best times to place a live bet often follow big plays like goals or strategic adjustments.
- Make educated bets: Use analytics and real-time data to make smart bets. This includes doing a deep dive into the live statistics and performance metrics to guide your betting decisions.
- Try live parlays: Whether it’s a premade parlay from the sportsbook or you create your own, placing multiple bets based on live games will not only amp up the excitement for the match, but can lead to big wins.
- Stick to a budget: The fast-paced nature of live betting can lead to making more bets that you initially planned. There’s no such thing as sure thing, so create a budget, either per match or for the entire Copa America and stick to it.
FAQs
What other sports can I live stream in my sportsbook?
Copa America is not the only sports game or tournament that you can live stream and bet on in Canada. Most major events, including hockey, curling, football, soccer, basketball, snooker, esports, racing have live streams available on participating sportsbooks.
Why use a live streaming betting site?
Part of the excitement of sports betting is watching the game to see what happens. I find that it’s a completely different experience when I can live stream the game, and without a live streaming sportsbook, I wouldn’t necessarily have a way to watch the game.
Can I access the live stream if I’m not betting?
You don’t have to be actively betting on a specific game to watch the live stream. However, all sportsbooks require that you have an account, and most also require either a minimum account balance or that you’ve used the bookie to place some bets.
Is there a delay between the live stream and real-time action?
Yes, I’ve noticed that the live stream is typically on a 15-30 second delay. This is standard with nearly every streaming service, whether it’s a sportsbook or an app like Sportsnet+. It’s due to lag and latency and the transmission from the broadcast to the stream. Keep this in mind when placing bets through the live stream, as bets can be invalidated if they happened live, even though it didn’t appear on the live stream.
Can I use the cash out feature while watching a live stream and placing live bets?
Not all bets have a cash out option. However, if you see on your Bet Slip that it’s available, you can do it while watching the live stream. For example, if you’re excited about Canada’s first entry into the Copa America, and bet on them to beat Argentina, you can cash out early if you see things aren’t going your way and keep some of your original wager.
