Head-to-head history

There hasn’t been much separating these two sides in recent memory. The last three meetings have ended level. In 11 matches since 2016, Wolves have won five of them. In 2023-24, both games were entertaining, finishing 2-2 and 1-1. This should be another exciting one to watch.

Wolves looking to move above safety

It hasn’t been the greatest season for Wolves, who are just one point out of the relegation zone at the turn of the year. They have a 4-4-11 record and don’t exactly play well on home soil either, going 2-1-6. That’s not great news ahead of Monday’s encounter. But, Wolverhampton is showing some signs of improvement as of late.

Vitor Pereira’s side won back-to-back matches against Leicester City and Manchester United in a span of four days late last month, scoring five goals and conceding none. Wolves followed that up with another inspiring performance last weekend against Spurs, with Hee-Chan Hwang and Jorgen Strand Larsen hitting the back of the net. The Norwegian equalized late in the second half in North London to help his team salvage a point.

Strand Larsen has been one of their better players up top, bagging seven goals. Matheus Cunha is the star of the show in the final third though with 10 goals and four assists. But, he was just handed a two-match ban for an incident with an Ipswich Town staff member last month and won’t be available to feature here. That’s a big loss for Wolves, who will need all the help they can get in order to potentially beat Forest. They’re a slim underdog on Monday at soccer betting sites, but not by much.

Historic campaign for Forest

While it remains to be seen if Nottingham Forest can actually remain in the top four for the remainder of the season, they’re definitely proving their worth right now. Nuno Espirito Santo’s men have grabbed 37 points from 19 matches, compiling an 11-4-4 record. They’ve scored 26 goals and conceded only 19. Forest is also a perfect 5-0-0 in their last five appearances. Immaculate form.

During that span, the Reds have beaten Man United, Aston Villa, Brentford, Tottenham, and most recently, Everton. Chris Wood opened the scoring in the ninth minute before Morgan Gibbs-White doubled Forest’s lead in the 61st minute. The Toffees actually controlled 64% of the possession, but it didn’t matter. The visitors were the ones who capitalized on their chances in the final third.

Wood, who isn’t exactly young anymore, has been everything Forest could’ve asked for and more. He leads the side with 11 goals. Gibbs-White and Anthony Elanga also have three goals apiece to their names this term. Forest is producing the goods lately but their biggest strength is the backline. With no Cunha on Monday, they will be happy because he is the one player who can really give any defense across the top flight a fit. Forest has +125 odds at Betway here.
