Head-to-head history

Tottenham has gotten the better of Man United in recent memory. They’ve won three of the last four meetings across all competitions, including a thrilling 4-3 victory in the Carabao Cup just before Christmas. Also, back in September, Spurs hammered the Red Devils 3-0 at Old Trafford. The visitors have something to prove here.

Brutal campaign for Spurs

It’s truly been a forgettable season for Tottenham. Nothing has gone right for them, compiling a poor 8-3-13 record in 24 games. The three draws say it all. Tottenham has actually scored 48 goals and conceded just 37, which doesn’t look that brutal on paper. The reality is the Lilywhites have suffered a ton of one-goal defeats.

Ange Postecoglou’s men are in dismal form, going just 1-0-4 in their last five Premier League matches. They were also just knocked out of the FA Cup in the fourth round last Sunday by Aston Villa, losing 2-1. Tottenham has tasted defeat in five of their last eight outings across all competitions. Some were talking about Spurs potentially getting relegated, but they’re 10 points above safety and barring a total collapse, should stay in the top flight.

Even though playing United is always a task, the hosts will be feeling confident about finding a positive result, going unbeaten in their last four meetings with the Red Devils. Spurs have +140 odds for Sunday’s affair at Sports Interaction.

Man United going nowhere fast

Yes, Tottenham is a relatively big club, but they do not have the legacy of Man United. That’s exactly why sitting in 13th is absolutely unacceptable for this side. Ruben Amorim hasn’t exactly thrived at Old Trafford since taking over for Erik ten Hag, posting a 4-2-7 record. While it was always going to take time to change things at United, the club was definitely expecting more success from the ex-Sporting boss.

On a more positive note, the Red Devils’ form has improved since the turn of the year. Across all competitions, they’ve won six of their last nine games, losing just twice during that span to Newcastle and Wolves. United’s issue lies on both ends of the pitch, scoring a mere 29 goals and conceding 34. To be honest, their backline hasn’t been awful either, it’s just a matter of inconsistencies and costly mistakes.

Amorim’s squad progressed to the fifth round of the FA Cup last Friday, beating Leicester City 2-1. After initially going down by a goal, Joshua Zirkzee equalized before Harry Maguire sunk his former club with a last-minute winner at the death. Depending on how results unfold elsewhere, the visitors could move into 11th spot with the full three points in North London. They have plus odds at soccer betting platforms.

Tottenham vs Man United injury news

Injuries have been a problem for Spurs all season. But, they will welcome back some key players, including James Maddison, Destiny Udogie, Brennan Johnson, and Guglielmo Vicario. However, Richarlison, Dominic Solanke, and Radu Dragusin remain out. As for Man United, they’re missing Lisandro Martinez, Mason Mount, Jonny Evans, and Luke Shaw.
