Newcastle will be looking to continue their pursuit of a Champions League spot on Sunday, April 13, when they welcome struggling Manchester United to St. James’ Park. The kick-off is scheduled for 11:30 AM ET. The Magpies have won four matches in a row and most recently took down Leicester City on Monday by a score of 3-0. As for the Red Devils, they’ve settled for back-to-back draws, playing to a 2-2 stalemate in the Europa League quarterfinals on Thursday. We’ll discuss more below. Newcastle vs Manchester United Odds

The Magpies are a heavy -143 favorite here for an implied win probability of 58.85%. United comes back as a +350 underdog at soccer betting sites.

There’s a clear reason why Newcastle is expected to come out victorious. They’ve won four of the last five meetings with Red Devils, taking away three points in a 2-0 victory last December at Old Trafford.

Newcastle vs Manchester United Analysis

The Magpies are having a respectable campaign and continue to chase down a return to Europe’s most prized competition. Eddie Howe’s men are in sixth spot with 53 points, just two behind Manchester City in fourth. They have a 16-5-9 record, scoring 52 goals while conceding 39. The battle for a top-four spot is fierce, so every single result matters as we get into the final weeks of the campaign.

Newcastle happens to be in good form, though. Their last defeat in the Premier League came in late February to Liverpool. Since then, it’s been league wins over West Ham, Brentford, and Leicester while also winning the EFL Cup final against Liverpool, which is a massive feather in their cap. As for the game against the Foxes on Monday, Jacob Murphy played hero with a brace, while Harvey Barnes also found the back of the net.

2024-25 has been one of the worst Manchester United seasons in decades. Despite changing their manager last fall with the hiring of Ruben Amorim, it hasn’t made much difference. The Red Devils are likely to finish outside of the top 10, currently sitting in 13th. The club has a disappointing 10-8-13 record and sits seven points behind 10th-place Bournemouth.

United is alive in the Europa League last eight, settling for a 2-2 draw on Thursday against Lyon ahead of the reverse leg next week. As for league action, they managed to take away a point in the Manchester derby against Man City last weekend in a rather cagey affair with minimal clear-cut opportunities. As you saw above, the Red Devils have struggled immensely against Newcastle. Sunday’s encounter will not be an easy one.

Newcastle vs Manchester United Injury News

Newcastle has a few injury absences here, including Lewis Hall, Sven Botman, and Jamaal Lascelles. Joe Willock is also sidelined due to a concussion. Alexander Isak is expected to lead the line after missing the last two matches through injury. As for Man United, Matthijs de Ligt joins the likes of Lisandro Martinez, Jonny Evans, and Amad Diallo in the treatment room for the visitors.

Newcastle vs Manchester United Picks

The Magpies have a lot more to play for at this moment and they’re in flying form. The Red Devils continue to be inconsistent. Newcastle is also solid on home soil, collecting an 8-2-4 record. I’ll take the hosts to collect an important three points at St. James’ Park.
