Chiefs Are Favorites To Win Super Bowl 59 Once Again (-125)
For the third straight year, the Kansas City Chiefs are headed to the Super Bowl. And for the third straight year, the Chiefs are entering the Big Game as the favorites to take home the Lombardi Trophy. Last week, they were behind the Eagles at +220 odds, but that was only because the Bills were a much tougher opponent than the Commanders. It makes sense that the Chiefs (now at -125 odds) would leapfrog the Eagles now that we’re down to our final two.
Many prefer to blame the referees for the Chiefs’ win in the AFC Championship. While the zebras did get a few spots wrong, the Chiefs simply played a more clean game, converting on third and fourth and short while getting great contributions from their special teams unit. They were able to beat the Bills with Travis Kelce pitching in just two catches, which has to be heartening for their chances in New Orleans a couple of weeks from now.
Philadelphia Eagles Are Very Slim Underdogs For Rematch (+105)
Meanwhile, the Eagles will play in their 3rd Super Bowl since the 2017 season. In all three, they came into the game as underdogs going up against an iconic QB with multiple Super Bowl rings under his belt. They’ve been here before. They had the shortest odds on the board heading into Conference Championship weekend, at +185, and even after a resounding 55-23 victory over this year’s Cinderella team in the Washington Commanders, they were surpassed by the Chiefs as the favorites to win Super Bowl 59.
However, their odds did still drop significantly to +105. That shows the oddsmakers giving respect to Philly and the roster they’ve been able to cobble together this season. Saquon Barkley and the defense carried them through the first two rounds, but the passing game bounced back with Jalen Hurts putting up 246 yards on a completion percentage of 70+ in the NFCCG. The Philly defense was in Jayden Daniels’ face all day on Sunday, sacking him three times and forcing some uncharacteristically bad throws. They’ll want to keep that up if they want to slow Patrick Mahomes at Caesar’s Superdome.
