The Saints just cleaned house, firing head coach Dennis Allen along with a handful of other staff. We know about the new coach bounce, but we’re not sure that’s going to be enough for New Orleans to overcome the Falcons, who are winners of five of six. Take the Falcons straight up here, though their -190 odds are about as short as we'll go with our best bets.

Joe Flacco did not look good against one of the worst pass defenses in the NFL for the Vikings last week, so we’re dubious about his chances to keep up with Josh Allen and company. Buffalo’s four-game winning streak is the third-longest active one in the league, and they’ve scored 30+ in three straight.

Patrick Mahomes is 12-1 against the Denver Broncos all-time, but that stat is a bit misleading, especially when it comes to recent meetings. The Chiefs lost their most recent matchup, and they have won by seven or fewer points in five of the last seven contests between these division rivals. Denver is 3-1 ATS when they’re underdogs of 6+ and the Chiefs are 1-3 ATS when they’re favorites of 6+. I know they burned us last week, but they just have a knack for playing Mahomes tough. K.C. has won only one game by more than seven points all year.

The Jaguars’ 31st-ranked pass defense is bad news for their chances against Sam Darnold and Justin Jefferson. Minny’s passing attack is now at full strength with Jordan Addison and T.J. Hockenson both also back in the fold, so this one could turn into a blowout. Minnesota is the fourth-best ATS team in the league this season, at 6-2. We don’t love the size of the spread we’re getting from top sports betting sites, but as long as it stays below seven, this is a good play.

We took the over when the Pats played the Titans last week, and here they are again up against another lackluster offensive outfit. We convinced ourselves to take the over last week, but with the Bears failing to score more than 15 since their bye and the Patriots averaging about 15 per game overall, the over looks like a hard sell. Chicago’s fourth-ranked scoring defense should make for a frustrating day for Drake Maye as well.

Mike Tomlin’s record against rookie QBs is well-known: he’s 25-6 against rookie QBs all-time. He’s lost to rookie QBs last year, in 2016, in 2012, and in 2007, so it seems he doesn’t lose to a freshman in back-to-back years. Tomlin’s also been historically good as an underdog, so with the odds what they are, we’re going to take the points here.

Christian McCaffrey is set to make his debut for the San Francisco 49ers this week, but we don’t understand why this spread is so large with them going on the road. The Bucs are 2-0 ATS as dogs of 6+ points this year, so we’re going to roll with them here. However, we do feel the need to buy the spread up above seven.
