Houston Texans @ Kansas City Chiefs (-2.5) - 1PM (SAT)
The big story here is the health of Patrick Mahomes’ ankle. It was reported that he suffered a mild high ankle sprain last week, and he’ll be playing on a short week here. He was a full participant on Tuesday, but it’s worth noting that it was just a light walkthrough. Carson Wentz would step in if Mahomes can’t, and he should be able to at least keep it within a field goal against a Texans team that has not looked good in nearly a month despite two straight close wins coming into this one. Houston has been one of the bigger disappointments in the NFL this season, and that will continue Saturday.
Teaser Pick: Kansas City Chiefs (+3.5)
Pittsburgh Steelers (+6.5) @ Baltimore Ravens - 4:30PM (SAT)
We took Pittsburgh’s underdog line last week against Philly and failed, but this is a completely different scenario. This is a divisional clash, and not just any divisional clash, but a Ravens-Steelers rivalry game. Since 2015, 17 of the 19 clashes between these teams have been decided by 12 points or less. Tomlin has the 3rd-best underdog record ATS among active coaches. Pittsburgh has won eight of the last nine. Since 2017, Tomlin’s Steelers are 12-4 straight up after a double-digit loss. We won’t say it’s a comfy teaser spread like we did last week, but we find it tough to believe a Tomlin-coached team will lose by two touchdowns in back-to-back games.
Teaser Pick: Pittsburgh Steelers (+12.5)
Cleveland Browns @ Cincinnati Bengals (-7.5) - 1PM
It seems as though the Jameis Winston rollercoaster has once again reached a low point. He was benched last week, and it looks like Dorian Thompson-Robinson will get the start against the Bengals. With Winston in there, there’s always the chance his team puts up 30 points out of nowhere. But we can’t imagine DTR being able to keep up with the likes of Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase on the scoreboard. Even the regular spread from sports betting sites felt a bit low, so this teaser line should be a lock.
Teaser Pick: Cincinnati Bengals (-1.5)
Detroit Lions (-6.5) @ Chicago Bears - 1PM
The Lions have been slapped by the injury bug like it’s 2020 all over again. But no matter, because they still have their offensive line, their QB, their top RB, and their top WR. They may not be able to stop anyone, but they’re certainly going to put up points like nobody’s business. Caleb Williams played his first three divisional games well, all three losses by three points or less, but last week against Minny was rough. Chicago’s defense has also been falling apart over the last two weeks, so Detroit should have no problem winning this game straight up on the road.
Teaser Pick: Detroit Lions (-0.5)
Los Angeles Rams (-3.0) @ New York Jets - 1:00PM
One of the hottest teams in the league right now, the Los Angeles Rams went from the cursed squad of 2024 to division leader in the span of a few weeks. They showed they can win a shootout a couple of weeks ago, and last Thursday they proved they can win a low-scoring slog in the rain. The Jets may be playing for pride, but the Rams are playing for their playoff lives, so they will have more urgency here. Getting three points back on the tease gives us the safety net we need in case Aaron Rodgers decides to summon his old self one last time.
Teaser Pick: Los Angeles Rams (+3.0)
New York Giants @ Atlanta Falcons (-8.5) - 1:00PM
The Falcons made the long overdue—and yet still, somehow, shocking—decision to bench Kirk Cousins this week. Rookie Michael Penix Jr. will make his first career start, and he couldn’t have asked for a softer matchup. The Giants haven’t won since Week 5, and they really seemed to have given up last week against the Ravens. That game was at home against the reigning MVP, so imagine how little they’ll prepare for a rookie on the road. All 12 of N.Y.’s losses have come by 3+ points, so we should be good.
Teaser Pick: Atlanta Falcons (-2.5)
