Denver Nuggets Moneyline (-170) vs. CHI
Whether or not the Nuggets have Nikola Jokic in the lineup on Monday night, there’s no way betting apps should be having their moneyline down this low against a bottom-feeder like the Bulls. Chicago has won seven of their last 10, but let’s be real. They have no business bringing a four-point spread to Denver.
But that’s where we are here, which means the moneyline is more than within the range for our best bets. The Nuggets played without the Joker on Sunday as well and took care of business against a much better Rockets team. Denver is also the best team in the league when playing on no rest, posting a 12-2 record so far this season. Chicago, meanwhile, is in the bottom 10, with a 3-8 record in the second game of a back-to-back.
The Bulls are making a run into the Eastern Conference Play-In conversation, but that’s the Eastern Conference. Just two of their last 11 wins have come against teams with a record above .500, and they’ve been especially bad against the mighty West, going just 8-17 against those Pacific coast foes this year. Denver, meanwhile, is 17-10 against the East. Take the sensible bet on this one.
New Orleans Pelicans Alternative -4.5 Point Spread (-140) vs. PHI
If you’re looking for a reason to watch two of the worst teams in basketball duke it out on a Monday night, we’ve got one for you here. The Pelicans aren’t a great team to back this year, but they do have their moments. Believe it or not, they are actually above .500 against the spread when playing at home in the Bayou. They are also 6-4 ATS as a home favorite.
However, we must admit that this bet is more about their opponent on Monday. The 76ers are just downright awful. Not even their stars want to play for them right now. They have won just four of their 24 games since the start of February, and they are 4-8 ATS in their last dozen games, including 0-3 in their last trio of outings.
They have been especially poor on the road. They are just 8-17 ATS this year as an away underdog, and they’re even worse against competition from the West, posting an 8-18-2 ATS mark in those matchups. But honestly, you don’t have to look too far for numbers and trends that will point you away from the 76ers. They make that easy at least.
NOP-PHI Alternative Game Total Over 231.5 Points (-140)
These teams are so bad we had to come back for more. Over the past five games, no one has given up more points than the Pelicans (126.2). Well, except those accursed Mavericks and, of course, these 76ers, who are allowing a whopping 132.4 points per game over this span. This has led to the over hitting in 10 of Philly’s last 11 games, and the same for New Orleans’ last three straight.
Over that same five-game sample size, the 76ers have been chucking it up and draining it themselves too, however, averaging 121.2 points per contest, fourth-most in the league. Both teams are also playing on no rest, and in those instances, both teams have seen the over go 8-5. We’ll play the percentages here, but we’ll still buy a point down.
