Get up to speed with sports betting terms on BetVictor
If you’re new to sports betting, you have probably heard of the term betting favourite. And you might be able to guess what a betting favourite is even if you don’t know much or anything about sports betting. The betting favourite is the team or player with the best odds to win the game, tournament, championship, or whatever is being bet on. You can also look at the betting favourite as the player or team most likely to win, according to the betting sites.
Betting favourites will usually have a - sign next to their odds. Underdogs are the opposite, the team or player most likely to lose based on the odds. Underdogs usually have a + sign next to their odds. But underdogs can have a - sign attached to their odds if the odds are close. The team or player with the higher number in that case would be the betting favourite. The Toronto Raptors play against the Indiana Pacers on December 3. On BetVictor, they are heading into that game as -105 underdogs. The Pacers are -133 betting favourites at the moment.
BetVictor’s betting glossary
New and experienced bettors might also want to know what some of the other betting terms mean. BetVictor has a betting glossary page posted for bettors to learn about some of the other betting terms. The betting glossary can be accessed through the sportsbook. Over 60 betting terms are listed on the page with definitions. Some of the terms are bet slip, double, favourite, handicap, lucky 15, odds, returns, single, target score, treble, winning margin and more.
All of the terms are listed in alphabetical order. So bettors can quickly search for and find the term that they are looking for by scrolling through the glossary. Bettors might not find every term they are looking for. The page was updated about four months ago. To find the betting glossary, click help centre which can be found under the list of sports on the left side of the page. Then click on the sports tab and scroll down to betting glossary or type betting glossary into the search bar.
