One down, three to go. With the Australian Open in the rearview, it’s time to focus the attention on the second Grand Slam of the season – the French Open. The tournament takes place from late May to early June. Reigning champ Carlos Alcaraz heads in as the favorite after beating Alexander Zverev in the final last year. Aussie Open winner Jannik Sinner isn’t far behind him however, while Novak Djokovic, Alexander Zverev, and Stefanos Tsitsipas are also expected to be in the mix. Below, we’ll preview some of the favorites at Roland Garros.

French Open Futures: Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner Early Favorites at Roland Garros
Highlights
- Carlos Alcaraz is the early 2025 French Open favorite
- Jannik Sinner isn’t far behind him
- We’ll give an early tournament preview below
Carlos Alcaraz
It’s no surprise to see Alcaraz with the best odds for the French Open, sitting at +140 odds at Sports Interaction. As previously mentioned, he took down Zverev in the showpiece in 2024. While that was his only Grand Slam trophy of the year, the Spaniard finished with four titles overall. As for the recent Aussie Open, he was outlasted by an injury-riddled Djokovic in the quarterfinals in four sets. Alcaraz was a quarterfinalist and semifinalist at the French Open in 2022 and 2023 as well. He has an 18-3 record at Roland Garros.
Jannik Sinner
There’s a legitimate argument that Sinner is the most in-form player on the Tour. He had a career-altering ‘24 season, winning a mind-boggling eight titles. That included victories at the US Open and the Aussie Open. Yes, he is now the back-to-back champion in Melbourne. Sinner cruised in the event this month, only dropping two sets en route to the title. The Italian beat the likes of Ben Shelton, Holger Rune, and Alex De Minaur – all solid young players. Sinner was a semifinalist in last year’s French Open, losing a five-round heartbreaker to his rival, Alcaraz. Sinner has the second-best Roland Garros odds at tennis betting sites.
Novak Djokovic
Djokovic may be getting up there in age, but he’s still producing the goods. Unfortunately, a leg injury caught up with him in the Aussie Open semifinals against Zverev, retiring after the first set due to the excruciating pain. Nole is a three-time winner at the French Open (2016, 2021, 2023) but lost in the quarterfinals last year. He should be healthy by the time Roland Garros rolls around, but it does seem like Djokovic is dealing with more and more injuries nowadays. While his best days are behind him, you can still expect Nole to be competitive in Paris.
Alexander Zverev
Zverev has enjoyed a career resurgence over the last couple of years. Yes, he’s still failed to win a Grand Slam final, but the German is extremely close to doing so. Sinner was just too strong for him last weekend in Melbourne. Zverev is ranked No. 2 in the world right now and beat a few impressive opponents before the final, including the likes of Ugo Humbert and American mainstay Tommy Paul. Zverev of course made the final at the French Open last year and will be looking for redemption. He also made the semifinals in three years in a row leading up to ‘24. Zverev is certainly one to watch on clay.
