Manchester City: +120 to Win/-1,000 for Top 4
While the English like to claim they have the most competitive of the top European leagues, that unfortunately has not been the case since Pep Guardiola arrived in Manchester. City have won six of the last seven Premier League titles, creating a domestic dynasty that would make even PSG or Bayern Munich blush.
They’ll be bringing back the same core, and considering there was no “winner’s fatigue” for them last year when they won their fourth title in a row, we don’t see why there would be any for their fifth straight title run.
At +120, it’s nice to see plus odds here from sports betting sites, but for a futures market, you usually want a little more value. Nonetheless, it remains the safest bet on the board. However, while we expect them to remain at the same level, there are a few other teams that could take the next step in challenging their supremacy in 2024-25…
Arsenal: +175 to Win/-625 for Top 4
If anyone’s going to slay the Goliath that City has become, it’s Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal. They have an excellent young group of players in William Saliba, Declan Rice, Martin Odegaard, and Bukayo Saka that measures up to any other quartet in the EPL.
In 2023, they led for much of the campaign but faltered completely at the tail end; last year, they were chasing City, and despite ultimately losing the title race on the final day, they showed improvement, resolve, and experience by winning 16 of their final 18 down the stretch.
Considering they were the only side that took four points from City last season, they seem like they’re on their way to a title in the next few years. 2025 could be that year, though they are not offering quite as much value as they should considering what they’re up against, at just +175 odds.
Liverpool: +800 to Win/-189 for Top 4
If there are any odds on this table that we would recommend staying away from, it’s Liverpool’s +800 outright winner odds, but also their -189 odds to finish in the top four. They’ve been a fixture in the top four in recent years, but with iconic manager Jurgen Klopp gone and an unproven manager in Arne Slott coming in, we could see some major regression here, some of which we already started to see over the last two years as Arsenal has replaced them as City’s top challenger.
Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk are also both aging out of their primes, and while they’ve found some solid talent to replace them, they won’t be ready for a title charge this season, and we expect Liverpool to struggle to stay in the top four as other sides improve.
Chelsea: +1,600 to Win/+150 for Top 4
Probably the best value on the board for both the outright winner market as well as top four, Chelsea had another frustrating season in 2023-2024, but their underlying metrics were strong all year, they finished strong by winning their last five straight of the season to jump up to sixth, and, perhaps most important of all, they signed a Guardiola disciple to be their new manager.
While he’s inexperienced, Enzo Maresca comes from the Pep school of football, which has graduated students like Arteta. It seems the only ones that have a chance against the legendary City manager are guys from his own coaching tree, and Maresca is just that.
Not to mention that they have a gaggle of highly-talented youngsters who were not guided well last year, not to mention their rash of injuries. Chelsea has come out of nowhere before to win trophies (in 2017, they won the EPL despite finishing 10th in the previous year), which has kind of become their calling card.
For that reason, their +1,600 odds are probably the only ones apart from City and Arsenal offering a real chance at hitting. Their +150 odds to finish in the top four feel like a lock based on the expected regression of Liverpool and Aston Villa.
