One thing we know is that Argentina is basically guaranteed the top spot here, the only way they don’t get it is if Canada wins to tie them on points and also closes a four-goal gap in goal difference. So, behind the current Copa America holders are three teams fighting for their lives in Group A, which should lead to some excellent soccer betting opportunities as well as some entertaining action.

Argentina vs. Peru Best Bet:

Odds provided by Betway.

Argentina Over 1.5 Goals (-139) | Betway

Against Canada, Argentina had eight shots on target, nine big chances, and 3.02 xG, but only scored twice. Against Chile, they had another nine shots on target, five big chances, and 2.72 xG, yet they scored just once, and very late, might I add.

Something’s got to give here: a team can’t continuously play this well without seeing the fruits of the ball hit the back of the net.

Peru have been prickly to say the least, picking up a whopping 35 fouls across the first two games. However, as elite players on their club teams, the players in Argentina’s attack are used to that type of treatment. Not to mention even Canada put up 1.72 xG (and five big chances) and Chile put up 1.03 xG against them, so -139 odds are more than generous for this prop.

Argentina vs. Peru Best Bet:

Lionel Messi Anytime Scorer (+110) | Betway

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me thrice? Can’t get fooled again.

We’ve put Lionel Messi’s anytime scorer odds, which have been generously priced by Ontario sportsbooks, in two parlays already, and he’s screwed us both times. He won’t do it a third.

Against Canada, he had a whopping 0.64 xG off of five shots, including three on target. He also flubbed two big chances, which is extremely unlike him. He also scored a brace when last he saw the Peruvians, in November for World Cup quaIifying.

The cherry on top of these beautiful +110 odds is this: Messi has played in nine major tournaments (Copa and World Cup), and the only time he went through the entire group stage without scoring was in the 2010 World Cup. Like a woman who’s been pregnant for nine and a half months, this man is way past due.

Chile vs. Canada Best Bet:

Over 2.5 Total Goals (+125) | Betway

This one should be fun, because Canada needs at least a draw, and Chile needs a win to advance to the knockout stages, which should result in an exciting, end-to-end match.

Both of these defenses got completely shredded by Argentina, and both allowed Peru four shots on goal and a big chance, so there is work to do at the back for both of them.

Canada may have just one goal so far in this tournament, but they’ve got over 3.0 xG, so they’ve been able to put a lot of quality chances together, which is usually the sign of an upcoming barrage.

Chile also has the quality at the top of the pitch to cause problems for Canada’s suspect back line. Ontario sportsbooks decided to give us a gift here, as there was no way we were passing up +125 odds on a prop like this.
