Copa America Group Future Odds Superlatives

  • Argentina has the shortest favorite odds to win their group
  • Mexico has the longest favorite odds to win their group
  • Bolivia has the longest odds to qualify for the knockout stages
  • Group B is the lone group without a nation with odds shorter than -400 to qualify

Group A Winner Betting Odds

CountryGroup WinnerQualify For Knockout Stage
Argentina-400-5,000
Chile+550-105
Peru+1,100+175
Canada+1,100+190

There’s not much discussion here about who’s going to win the group, as Argentina is by far and away the most talented, experienced, and deep squad in Group A. Their -400 odds to win the group are not worth a look unless they’re included in a parlay, which we’ve done above.

Behind La Albiceleste there will be a fierce battle for the second spot in the group, however, and the odds being offered by Ontario sportsbooks prove that out. Chile is seemingly in pole position, and Canada’s recent form would suggest they’re unlikely to win a match in this group. However, Peru could be an interesting option here to qualify at +175 odds.

Peru (32) is actually ranked higher than Chile (42) in the FIFA World rankings right now. While Peru is undefeated in their last five, Chile has lost three of their last six, a stretch which also included a draw with Paraguay that saw both sides pick up red cards.

Chile won back-to-back Copas in 2015-2016, but they’ve regressed, finishing fourth in 2019 before going out in the quarters in the most recent Copa. Peru, meanwhile, has overachieved in nearly every tournament in recent memory, earning fourth place last time around, second-place in 2019, and two third-place finishes in 2015 and 2011. Peru’s +175 odds also offer much more value than Chile’s-105 odds to qualify, so the choice seems clear here.

Group B Winner Betting Odds

The tightest group on the board in terms of odds to win the group, Mexico and Ecuador both have a great chance to escape this group with the top spot. Venezuela and Jamaica will both put in solid performances, but we doubt they will get a win against any nation in this group apart from each other.

Both Mexico and Ecuador are offering + odds here, so no matter who you go with, you’re getting solid value. This one is really a toss up, as Ecuador has been in better form against lesser competition recently, while Mexico has the better history at the Copa America despite the fact that they aren’t invited to every tournament.

In 10 invites to the Copa, Mexico have been runners-up twice, semi-finalists thrice, and qualified for the knockout stages eight total times. This will be Mexico’s first appearance at the Copa since 2016, and with the competition being held so close to home, we like Mexico’s El Tricolor to win this group at +110 odds.

Another tight group at the top, this one could come down to who wins the matchup between Uruguay and U.S.A., as both of these nations should earn six points from Panama and Bolivia, who are two of the weakest teams in the tournament.

Uruguay used to own this tournament, but they haven’t gone past the quarterfinals since 2011, when they won it all at the height of the Luis Suarez era. America has only been to four Copas, but they finished fourth in two of them.

While both teams are coming in on shaky form, the U.S. did earn a very impressive draw against Brazil in their final tune up game for this tournament. That, plus the home field advantage, gives the USMNT the edge here for us, not to mention their +130 odds offer a lot more value.

The Brazilians will likely win this group, but the Colombians will definitely push them right to the edge as the team that is probably in the best form of anyone in this tournament. Los Cafeteros have not lost an international match since February 1st, 2022.

That run of elite form includes impressive victories over the likes of the U.S.A. (5-1), Spain (1-0), Brazil (2-1), Germany (2-0), and twice over Mexico (both 3-2). That’s as good a run as you’re going to see, so if you wanted to choose a long-shot group winner, Colombia at +275 is definitely the way to go here despite Brazil’s depth of talent.
