Missouri vs Texas A&M head-to-head
There’s a rich history between these two SEC programs, but Missouri has the upper hand in recent memory, winning five of the last seven meetings. That being said, the Aggies did beat the Tigers in their last matchup in 2021 by a score of 35-14. The last time they met in College Station was 10 years ago in 2014, with Missouri winning that day.
Missouri flourishing
The Tigers are looking to start 5-0 for the second straight season but will be tested against a strong Texas A&M team. Missouri hasn’t played a ranked opponent yet, beating Buffalo, Murray State, Vanderbilt, and Boston College. While The Tigers have scored their fair share of points, it’s their defense that is standing out so far.
Missouri is allowing just 230.8 total yards per contest, which ranks eighth in the nation. They’re especially solid against the pass, ranking 11th in the country. Offensively, this is also a top-50 team in most categories, too. Quarterback Brady Cook has completed 68.7% of his passes for 946 yards and four touchdowns against one pick, which aren’t eye-popping numbers. A lot of their damage has come on the ground through running backs Nate Noel and Marcus Carroll. Noel has run for 6.4 yards per carry while Carroll is also a workhorse. Cook is no pushover with his legs either, rushing for 97 yards. While the win over Vanderbilt was nerve-racking, Missouri did have a bye in Week 5 and will come into this contest fresh and well-rested. That is a good sign because they will need to be at their absolute best in a hostile environment in College Station. The Tigers are a slim underdog at most online betting sites.
Can Texas A&M stay unbeaten in SEC?
The Aggies are having a respectable season so far and do have a chance at the expanded College Football Playoff if they continue to perform. Texas A&M fell to ND in the season opener but has beaten McNeese State, Florida, Bowling Green, and Arkansas. However, the victory over the Razorbacks wasn’t exactly convincing and to be honest, Arkansas beat themselves.
They were outgained 379-297 and struggled on third down conversions, going just 4 for 13. On a more positive note, the Aggies did force three turnovers, which proved to be crucial in the outcome of this contest. A&M ranks top-100 in the nation in yards gained and fewest yards allowed. Marcel Reed is the starting QB right now, completing 54.4% of his throws for 585 yards and six touchdowns. He hasn’t thrown a single pick yet.
The run game is important for the Aggies and they rely mostly on Le’Veon Moss. He’s averaging 6.2 yards per carry for three touchdowns and 471 total yards. Texas A&M is 4-1 SU this season and usually plays well at Kyle Field. This is an important game in order to move up in the rankings and to also stay unbeaten in SEC play. The Aggies are a very slim 2.5-point favorite at Sports Interaction.
