PSG vs Aston Villa Odds

PSG is a heavy -263 moneyline favorite for the opening leg for an implied win probability of 72.45%. Villa comes in as a +625 underdog at soccer betting sites. This is the first-ever meeting between the two clubs.

PSG vs Aston Villa Analysis

Despite the departure of Kylian Mbappe, PSG actually looks like a legitimate title threat in Europe. The Ligue 1 giants knocked out Premier League standouts Liverpool in the Round of 16 in shocking fashion. The Reds were one of the favorites to win the Champions League and frankly no one had them bowing out at that stage of the competition. Paris is currently enjoying a 28-game unbeaten run in league action and hasn’t lost domestically this term.

Luis Enrique’s side wrapped up the title over the weekend and now shifts their focus to the Champions League. Paris has been electrifying in the final third, with Ousmane Dembele leading the way. He’s bagged seven goals in the UCL. Dembele has scored 24 times across all competitions. Desire Doue and Bradley Barcola are very important pieces up top as well.

Villa isn’t having the best campaign in the Premier League, sitting in seventh place. A spot in the UCL next season is still possible, but it’s not a guarantee. However, Unai Emery’s brilliance in Europe has shone through for the Lions, guiding his side to the quarterfinals. Villa hammered Club Brugge in the Round of 16, beating them 6-1 across two legs.

The Villans were impressive enough to book an automatic spot in the last 16 without going through the playoffs, beating the likes of Celtic, Bayern Munich, and RB Leipzig along the way. The English outfit has won seven straight games and has captured 13 victories overall since the turn of the year. That’s top six in Europe. The attack is Villa’s biggest strength, with Marcus Rashford, Morgan Rogers, and Ollie Watkins all capable of brilliance in front of goal.

PSG vs Aston Villa Injury News

Paris only has one injury absence for Wednesday’s encounter – Lee Kang-in. Captain Marquinhos won’t be available, however, due to a suspension, which is certainly a blow to the hosts. As for Villa, Ross Barkley is the only definite absentee, while Leon Bailey’s status is in doubt due to injury.

PSG vs Aston Villa Picks

Although Villa is a dangerous side in the final third, their backline concerns me, conceding far too often this season. PSG’s attack, meanwhile is electric and I do think they will take advantage of the visitors’ defensive woes in the first leg. I’m eyeing both teams to score with Paris grabbing a crucial victory.
