While there are still some top free agents left on the open market, most of the best players have already been signed. With that being said, it’s a perfect time to look at the latest 2025 World Series futures and by no surprise, the Los Angeles Dodgers are the clear favorite after a very busy offseason. But, you can’t sleep on the New York Yankees or the New York Mets as well, who head into the upcoming season with strong rosters. Below, we’ll preview some of the contenders with the Fall Classic still nearly a year away.
2025 World Series Futures: Dodgers Clear Favorite to Repeat After Busy Offseason
2025 World Series Futures: Dodgers Clear Favorite to Repeat After Busy Offseason
Highlights
- Ahead of Spring Training, the Dodgers are the World Series favorite
- The Yankees and Mets sit behind them
- We’ll preview the World Series futures below
Dodgers
At this point, it’s clear that no one can touch the Dodgers when it comes to luring in the best talent. Los Angeles re-signed Teoscar Hernandez and Tommy Edman. On the open market, they brought in lefty Blake Snell, Korean sensation Hyeseong Kim, Michael Conforto, and of course, Tyler Glasnow and Shohei Ohtani will pitch in ‘25.
LA finally silenced the doubters with their World Series win over the Yankees and there’s no question they’re going to be just as good this season, if not better. Their rotation is absolutely electric and the starting nine is a force to be reckoned with, too. The Dodgers deservingly sit as a +350 favorite right now at Betway.
Yankees
I know, the Bronx Bombers lost Juan Soto to their crosstown rivals, which is definitely not ideal. However, Brian Cashman and the front office can still consider this offseason a win. They traded for Cody Bellinger and Devin Williams, two players who will make an immediate difference both at the plate and on the mound. As for other signings, they handed left-hander Max Fried a historic deal while also inking Paul Goldschmidt to a contract.
While Bellinger isn’t Soto, he will fit in nicely alongside Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton in the heart of the Yankees lineup. Fried slots in at the top of the rotation with Gerrit Cole and will be the lone southpaw in the rotation after Nestor Cortes was moved in the Williams deal. Speaking of Williams, he’ll be a mainstay at the end of games for New York. This club will definitely be in the mix for the AL East title and a potential championship.
Mets
The Mets were one of the best stories of the 2024 season. They started horribly and it looked like the team had no chance of making the playoffs. But, in the second half, New York turned things around and was on the doorstep of making the World Series before losing to the Dodgers in the NLCS.
As we all know, Steve Cohen is never shy to spend money. He did exactly that this winter, handing Soto $765 million across 15 years – the biggest contract in sports history. Although Pete Alonso may be gone in free agency, Soto is definitely a perfect replacement and one of the best hitters in the game. He joins a lineup that already has Francisco Lindor, Mark Vientos, Starling Marte, and Brandon Nimmo. On the hill, Kodai Senga and Sean Manaea anchor the rotation. NY has the second-best World Series odds at baseball betting sites.
Orioles
Despite being one of the best teams in baseball across the last two seasons, the Orioles continue to lose in the first round of the playoffs. But, they’ve committed to getting better and adding to their impressive young core. Baltimore signed Tyler O’Neill this offseason while strengthening their rotation with the addition of Charlie Morton.
At this point, the O’s just need to prove that they can perform on the big stage. It doesn’t matter if they have a stellar record in the regular season if they fall apart in the playoffs. This will be the year to prove their worth.
