The Chiefs and Bills will do battle on Sunday night to decide who punches their ticket to Super Bowl 59. Same goes for the Eagles and Commanders in the NFC on Sunday afternoon. Because those games have yet to be played, however, the odds for all of the top options for Super Bowl MVP are offering more value than they’re ever going to. You just have to take a slight double risk on the team of the player you pick winning on Sunday. And there’s certainly one player we have on our minds here.

Bet Patrick Mahomes for Super Bowl MVP Before It’s Too Late!
By Monday morning when there are half as many teams alive, the odds for each player participating in the Super Bowl is likely to lose its value by at least half. That’s why it’s worth making a dart throw here early, so you can get proper value from these betting apps.
There are a lot of intriguing options on the board, and we’ll get to a couple of them momentarily, but first we have to talk about the big cheese.
The Chiefs have won three of the last five Super Bowls. Patrick Mahomes has won three of the last five Super Bowl MVPs. And the voters love him. He hasn’t been scintillating in any of K.C.’s Super Bowl wins. He threw two INTs during his first SB MVP performance, failed to eclipse 200 yards passing in the second, and had another pick in his most recent award-winning performance during Super Bowl 58.
The Chiefs are favored to win this game, and Mahomes has only ever lost once at home in the postseason. While we all love to hope every year that this year is the Bills year, they have lost thrice to the Chiefs in the playoffs, and this is far from the best unit Buffalo has thrown at K.C. The whole argument for Josh Allen’s MVP candidacy is that his team is bad, and if that’s true, they won’t be able to get past the Chiefs this time either.
So, if you believe the Chiefs will beat the Bills and go to the Super Bowl, you can probably take the next step that they’ll beat the lesser team from the NFC. And if Kansas City does win, Mahomes’ odds for Super Bowl MVP will plummet massively after the AFCCCG. They might even slip down into minus odds territory if we’re being honest. Considering that, and the fact that Mahomes is not even the odds-on favorite to win it right now, that’s great value.
And we’d go a step further and say that a Mahomes Super Bowl MVP bet is the best way for Bills bettors to hedge themselves. If the Bills win, you’ll lose your Mahomes bet, but we assume your hedge bet will be smaller than your original, so you come out on top. If the Bills lose, you just got insane value on the enormous favorite to win the award, which should make up for your lost Bills bet. It’s a win-win baby.
Fun Long Shots
- Saquon Barkley, Eagles RB (+450): If the Eagles make the Super Bowl, Barkley will surely be the most popular pick for Super Bowl MVP in the Kelly green. Running backs don’t generally win Super Bowl MVP anymore. But the way this Eagles team plays offense, it’s likely that if they won, Barkley would be the biggest reason why. He would deserve it after the team robbed him of the chance at Eric Dickerson’s single-season rushing record.
- Jayden Daniels, Commanders QB (+800): If the Commanders go and do the impossible by completing their third straight shocking upset, Daniels’ will probably have the shortest odds of any player apart from the AFC QB. This level of NFL betting odds value on a starting Super Bowl QB doesn’t come around often.
- Travis Kelce, Chiefs TE (+2,500): As we pointed out earlier, Mahomes has not always been at his best in the Super Bowl despite all of those trophies. It’s possible that if Mahomes has a couple of more turnovers while overfeeding Travis Kelce like he sometimes does—especially in the playoffs—Kelce could snag the award for himself.
- Zack Baun, Eagles LB (+15,000): Only three of the last 25 Super Bowl MVPs have been defenders, so this one is more just a fun pipedream. Baun is the type of do-it-all linebacker that could stuff the stat sheet impressively enough to turn some heads. A sack and a couple of forced turnovers could do the trick depending on how the game goes, and at +15,000, why not take a little shot here.
