Iga Swiatek
Swiatek has now been the No. 1 player on the WTA Tour for 116 weeks. She has five Grand Slams to her name already, but four of them came at the French Open. Swiatek is yet to conquer the Australian Open and Wimbledon. As for the US Open, she took down Tunisia’s Ons Jabeur in the final two years ago. However, she didn’t make it past the fourth round in 2023. The Polish superstar has already captured five singles titles in ‘24 and has an impressive 47-5 record. She’s currently vying for another trophy at the Cincinnati Open. Swiatek is a +275 US Open favorite at Sports Interaction.
Aryna Sabalenka
Sabalenka is the No. 3 player in the world and has two Grand Slams in her career, both at the Australian Open The Belarusian made the final at the US Open in 2023 but lost to American Coco Gauff, who was on a ridiculous hot streak at the time. While Sabalenka has been in the latter stages of most tournaments this year, her win in Melbourne was the lone title of ‘24. Sabalenka just bowed out in the quarterfinals at the National Bank Open in Toronto but she’s into the third round in Cincinnati.
Coco Gauff
You can’t forget the defending champion, right? Gauff cruised to the title a year ago on home soil, capturing her first Grand Slam title. She is ranked No. 2 on the tour but hasn’t been playing too well lately. She just suffered three consecutive Round of 16 exits including at Wimbledon. Gauff also lost to unranked Yulia Putintseva in Cincinnati on Friday in the Round of 32. Needless to say, Gauff isn’t in the best form. We’ll see if she can turn up for her title defense.
Naomi Osaka
It’s surprising to see Osaka with top-five odds. Since she returned from maternity leave, the Japanese native has been struggling immensely to find results. Osaka just bowed out in the qualifiers at the Cincinnati Open. She also failed to get past the early stages at the Australian Open, French Open, and Wimbledon. Osaka needs to go through the qualifiers at the US Open, too. She’s ranked 90th on the tour.
Elena Rybakina
Rybakina has been a fairly consistent player over the last couple of years. She’s fourth in the world and has lost just five times in 2024. The 25-year-old has won three titles this season and just made the semifinals at Wimbledon. When it comes to the US Open, Rybakina has never advanced past the third round. We’ll see if she can conquer her demons in New York and make a deep run.
