2024-25 Premier League futures: Manchester City tipped to repeat
2024-25 Premier League futures: Manchester City tipped to repeat
Highlights
- Manchester City is favored to win the 2024-25 Premier League title
- Arsenal isn’t far behind in the latest futures
- We’ll preview a handful of contenders below
Man City
By now, it’s well known that City is the king of the Premier League. I mean, winning four straight titles is ridiculous in itself. Pep Guardiola’s side is a true powerhouse and even captured the treble in 2022-23, finally conquering their Champions League demons. In 2023-24, it came down to the wire, but the Sky Blues ultimately bested Arsenal. This squad will look relatively the same in the upcoming season, with talisman Erling Haaland looking to capture a third Golden Boot in a row. The Norwegian bagged 27 goals. Phil Foden is coming off a breakout campaign with 19 Premier League goals and eight assists, while Kevin De Bruyne can hopefully stay healthy. Even without him for a prolonged period last season, City dominated. Another EPL title wouldn’t be surprising. The Cityzens have +120 title odds at Sports Interaction.
Arsenal
The Gunners looked like a legitimate title contender last term and it showed by the numbers. Arsenal scored 91 times and conceded a league-low 29 goals, compiling a 28-5-5 record overall. It truly went down to the wire with City for first place, but Pep’s men had a game in hand that proved to be crucial. Three players in particular led the way for the Gunners in 2023-24 – Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz, and Leandro Trossard. Saka scored 16 times, while Havertz netted 13. Trossard also added 12 goals. Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice were also important players in the final third. The North Londoners haven’t made many moves in the summer window, so you can expect a similar starting XI on matchday one. Arsenal has the second-best title odds at soccer betting sites.
Liverpool
There will be a completely different vibe around Anfield. After nearly nine years, Jurgen Klopp decided to step down as the Reds manager. Feyenoord’s Arne Slot has replaced him, who isn’t the most well-known name but clearly, Liverpool did their homework on the Dutchman. We know just how key Klopp was in the Reds’ success, so it remains to be seen how Slot will do. Liverpool finished in third last season, nine points behind Man City. Mohamed Salah scored 18 and set up another 10 in 2023-24, while Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota also finished in double digits in scoring. They haven’t been too active in the summer transfer window, but that’s not too surprising. It’s hard to know if the Reds could be in the title mix with a brand-new gaffer who hasn’t managed outside of the Netherlands.
Chelsea
In all honesty, Chelsea is a title longshot. I mean, they were sixth last season but did finish strong. Mauricio Pochettino mutually agreed to leave the club, which means former Leicester City boss Enzo Maresca is now in the Stamford Bridge dugout. He just led the Foxes to a Championship title and served as an assistant under Guardiola at Man City for several years. The Blues have a wonderful young core and a budding star in Cole Palmer, who absolutely exploded. He scored 22 EPL goals and supplied 11 assists. Plus, the Englishman just shined in limited minutes for the Three Lions at Euro 2024, even scoring a breathtaking equalizer in the showpiece against Spain. The sky is the limit for Chelsea because of their plethora of options at most positions. While it’s still a work in progress, anything is possible for the London outfit. They could definitely finish within the top four.
